Knowledge exchange to strengthen shared water management

To help shape shared investment priorities and guide future resource mobilization for the basin, ZAMCOM convened the inception meeting on 8 April 2026 in Harare, Zimbabwe. LIMCOM is represented by its Executive Secretary, Mr. Sergio Sitoe.

LIMCOM successfully participated in an inception meeting of the project ‘Support to the Development of the Strategic Basin Investment Programme (SBIP) to Build Resilience and Sustainable Development in the Zambezi Watercourse.”

The Zambezi Watercourse is shared by eight riparian states — Angola, Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe

The Zambezi Watercourse Commission (ZAMCOM), mandated to promote the equitable and reasonable utilization of the water resources of the Zambezi Watercourse, is developing the SBIP, with support from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).

The SBIP aims to establish a coordinated, bankable investment framework that strengthens climate resilience, enhances water and food security and promotes sustainable socio-economic development across the Zambezi Basin.
