A River Basin Organisation is at the core of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM). Effective water governance relies on commitment to international agreements and appropriate national laws and institutions that require water to be managed in accordance with the principles of integrated water resource management
The Water Governance in the Limpopo Basin section presents the History of cooperation within the Limpopo River basin, the contents of the LIMCOM Agreement, and the Objectives and Structure of LIMCOM. The National Laws of Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe are presented, as well as the institutional responsibilities, policies related to disaster management and transboundary water management and some of the challenges each country is facing.
