On Thursday 5 September 2024, LIMCOM will host an informative webinar on the “Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis Development Process for the Limpopo River Basin.”

 

This insightful webinar series will bring together various stakeholders including LIMCOM Member States namely Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe; International and Regional Organizations, Civil Society, Academia, River Basin Organizations, Media, and the Private Sector.

 

The webinar will provide a unique opportunity for stakeholders to get a better understanding of the processes and preliminary findings of the Transboundary Diagnostic Analysis (TDA) for the Limpopo River Basin (LRB) and explore the enhancement of the subsequent analysis during the finalization of the TDA and the formulation of a Strategic Action Programme (SAP) for the LRB.

 

Guest speakers include Dr. Madeleine Nyiratuza, the Regional Technical Advisor for Water, Oceans, Ecosystems and Biodiversity (Africa) at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), who will give global perspectives on transboundary diagnostic analysis.

 

Mr Phera Ramoeli, the Executive Secretary for the Permanent Okavango River Basin Water Commission (OKACOM), and Mr Elisha Madamombe, the Interim Executive Secretary for the Buzi, Pungwe, and Save Watercourses Commission (BUPUSACOM) will both provide a regional experience of the TDA process as one of the pioneers to undertake such an analysis in the region.

 

LIMCOM Executive Secretary, Mr. Sergio Sitoe and the Lead TDA/SAP Consultant, Prof. Dominic Mazvimavi will talk about the TDA development process in the Limpopo River Basin.

 

The webinar is being held in partnership with the Global Water Partnership Southern Africa (GWPSA), and with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through funding from the Global Environment Facility (GEF), under the project “Integrated Transboundary River Basin Management for the Sustainable Development of the Limpopo River Basin”.
