Limpopo Digital Twin showcased at Africa Food Systems Forum 2026

LIMCOM successfully participated in the Africa Food Systems Forum 2026, convened in Kigali, Rwanda under the theme ‘Investing in Africa’s Agri‑Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, Building Resilience.”

At the forum held on 31 August-4 September 2026, Senior Technical Advisor, Dr. Ebenizario Chonguica, contributed to a session on ‘Towards the UN Water Conference – MaiWater AI‑Powered Hydrology Models for African Agriculture.’

The session highlighted how AI‑driven hydrological intelligence can transform water management, strengthen climate‑resilient agriculture and build sustainable food systems across Africa. It also featured the first public preview of the MaiWater AI dashboard and Digital Twin for the Limpopo River Basin.

The Digital Twin for the Limpopo River Basin is a groundbreaking innovation that strengthens science-based, cross-border decision-making in the Limpopo River Basin (LRB).

Developed by the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) in collaboration with LIMCOM, this tool combines data, insight and foresight to empower both decision-makers and communities.
