CONDOLENCE MESSAGE BY LIMCOM FOLLOWING THE PASSING OF COMMISSIONER CHADWICK LOBAKENG FROM THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH AFRICA
Maputo, 26 April 2024
I am very saddened and heartbroken to hear that Mr. Chadwick Lobakeng has passed away. On behalf of the Limpopo Watercourse Commission (LIMCOM), I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the Lobakeng Family and the Government of South Africa for this untimely loss.
I worked with Mr. Lobakeng for a long time at LIMCOM where he was a Commissioner, representing the Government of South Africa. Commissioner Lobakeng was a dedicated person, who was committed to the sustainable development of the Limpopo River Basin and the rest of the southern African region.
LIMCOM was privileged to work with Commissioner Lobakeng and witness the calibre of a great man he was — a man who could think beyond the interests of South Africa (his home country) but expand his thinking approach across the country’s political borders in search of solutions for problems and challenges affecting the people living in the Limpopo Basin.
There is little comfort in words and no words can express the extent of my overwhelming sorrow. We at LIMCOM will miss him dearly and on behalf of the Limpopo Member States (Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa and Zimbabwe), I wish to once again extend my sincere condolences.
His untimely passing will be felt by all in the Limpopo River Basin and the SADC region. May the memory of his wonderful personality and contribution to the regional integration agenda and poverty reduction be celebrated by all.
Commissioner Lobakeng, my thoughts and prayers are with you and the Lobakeng Family. I hope that the Lobakeng Family can find some comfort. May His Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
LIMCOM Executive Secretary
Mr. Sergio Sitoe
